My Biggest Secret to Figuring It Out as a Girlboss

I remember when I first started this blog in 2016. I had nothing figured out. I had no idea that I would be sitting here on a Saturday night with deep conditioner in my hair and preferring to write a blog post than going out and partying until I couldn’t remember the night.

I had no idea that I would be my own boss and launching my own life coaching practice for entrepreneurial women. I had no idea that I would be a yoga instructor and now teaching for one of the biggest yoga franchises, CorePower Yoga. I literally had no clue.

What I’ve had to do on this journey is figure it all out. In fact, I’m still figuring this all out. I’m still figuring out how my days will look. I’m still figuring out how my taxes will look. I’m still figuring out how my business will bring in more revenue. It’s still a matter of figuring it out. So today, I wanted to share with you a secret of figuring it out as a girlboss.

The secret to figuring it out is embracing that you will never figure it all out. You literally won’t magically wake up one day and say that you’ve got it all figured it out. You’re not possibly going to say, “That’s it! I’ve got it!” and have everything be perfection in your girlboss journey.

I thought I had it all figured out the moment I quit my job in April (link). Well damn, I was wrong. Now it’s July and I’m around three months deep into self-employment. Not only have I not figured out a damn thing but I’m embracing the process.

The process of being self-employed with a new life coaching practice, yoga instructing schedule, and community building commitment really shows me there is no “figure it out.” Every single day, I have been challenged and tested to do something new. Whether it’s a new coaching program or new community format, I have learned to embrace not known what will happen next!

As girl bosses, we will want to figure it all out. But the beauty of it is that we don’t need to. The strength lies in embracing what we don’t figure it all out. That’s where the real magic happens.

Embracing that you haven’t figured it out allows for more discovery and creativity in your girlboss journey. Once you embrace that you haven’t figured it all out, your mind will open. You’ll be more able to think outside the box and create the beauty you’re capable of.

As always, I’ll give myself as an example on this one! With the new website update not too long ago, I decided to rethink all blog posts. My blog numbers won’t growing and readership wasn’t engaging. I noticed that I din’t have it all figured out with the blog and went on a process to make sure my blogs were more advantageous for my readers. The discovery process began.

I discovered my blog posts were not focused on one ideal person, but rather multiple people. So I started writing blog posts to one person: the girlboss most likely in the Millenial Generation and Generation X who lived in an urban city and either had her own side hustle or was a full-time grlboss in any industry. The blog has now the highest readership it’s ever had. And that’s all because I got discovered what was going right and embraced that I didn’t have ish figured out!

We won’t have it all figured out, and we’ll be able to be more open when we embrace that. We’ll figure out what we can do better, how we can grow, and how we can offer more value. Figuring it out isn’t going to happen, but doesn’t that make it thrilling too?

In your journey, you’ll be tested along the way to figure it out, and that’s what makes the girlboss life so worth it. You’ll go through all the tests in your journey. What makes tests fun is after you see your worth. You’ll see that you earned that A. You’ll see that you deserved that triumph.

I’m consistently tested in this girlboss journey. Let me tell you, I’m so close to calling it quits pretty often. But what always keeps me is that it’s all worth it. The journey that I’m on is worth all the blood, sweat, and tears.
This journey is worth it for me because I get to encourage all my fellow entrepreneurial women in their passions. The journey is worth it for me because I get to build an amazing community of badass women who can love self, nurture soul, and live sport.

Why we embark on our girl boss journey is worth the complicated road of not figuring it all out. Our why will keep us going, and honestly, it makes our road so much more worth it when we go through something!

In what ways are you going to let go of figuring it all out? What parts of your life do you need to let go of perfection? How can you move forward with that? Comment below to continue our conversation of not figuring a damn thing out and embracing the journey ahead of us!
