In speaking to a friend this week, I realized that what drives us is our passion. When we hold a position or occupation we are proud of, our life feels that much more complete.
There are 24 hours in a day and 7 days in a week. If we are not doing something we are proud of, then what is the point?
I would love to use myself as an example of having job/s that I am proud of. I go to grad school for my masters. I blog four times a week. I teach a yoga class once a week. I work part-time at a mental health clinic. I also am fully committed to working out and maintaining #selfsoulsport.
So many people, including myself, are in awe of what I do. Why I do all I do is because I am proud of each and every activity.
I am proud to be working toward becoming a social worker and serve others. I am proud to share lifestyle, healthy, beauty, and fitness with others. I am proud to teach a yoga class to provide relief to others through slow, mindful movements. I am proud to provide assistance to those who seek professional talk therapy.
When we have a job we are proud of, we become happier and more fulfilled. I remember about two years ago I was in a career that I did not feel fulfilled. I knew it was time to find pleasure.
Being proud is by Merriam Webster described as “feeling deep pleasure or satisfaction as a result of one’s own achievements, qualities, or possessions.”
Are we working jobs that give us pleasure? Are we engaging in occupations that give us satisfaction? Whatever it is we do, let’s be proud.
Taking a risk is worth being proud. About a year ago, I quit my full-time job to work part-time at a mental health clinic and pursue yoga. What a decision!
It was a risk financially, personally, and occupationally, however I was on the hunt for a job that could align with all of my qualities. A risk is worth being proud. No matter what, let’s make sure we are honoring and serving ourselves.
Having a job that we are proud of will encourage us in our journeys. Whether it’s a side hustle, a part-time job, or a full-time job, let’s engage ourselves in what makes us proud.
Have a great week and let’s continue or shift our life journeys to what gives us pleasure and satisfaction.
