One day, I decided to go to my gym and had absolutely no group class scheduled. I just walked in the gym and expected to blast some calories. Right? Wrong.
I realized I had no way of organizing my workout or even planning one. So what did I do? I did a totally ineffective treadmill workout and headed out of the gym dissatisfied.
That’s when I knew it was time to start exploring portable tools, like apps, for the days I don’t feel like a group workout but still want to sweat either in the gym, at home, or outside.
Below are three of my favorite free workout apps that I am sharing with you guys because sharing is caring. Let’s get to it:
- Workouts+ : This app has become my personal favorite because it is customizable. I am a person who has always liked options and this app gives it to you. How? You create your own workouts, your own duration for each, your own arrangements for each, and your own damn music plays in the background. How much better does it get?! I am huge on HIIT lately (which I will get to next week). So I add my favorite workouts in intervals with my boo Drake in the background.
- Sworkit: Sweaty. One word to describe the after effect of working out with this app. It has options of strength, cardio, plyometrics (ah!!), and yoga. You can choose your own times at 5 minute increments and it is absolutely amazing. What a great way to have a personal trainer in your phone or tablet without paying a thing. Also, this app is customizable, which appeals to me. Again, be ready to sweat.
- Yoga Studios App: Yoga keeps me sane. Point blank. When I cannot practice yoga at least once or twice a week, I get cranky. So I love this app for a nice at-home quick yoga practice. It has beginner, intermediate, and advanced level flows at 15 mins, 30 mins, or 60 mins. It also has sun salutations, deep relaxations, and quick yoga fix flows! I strongly recommend this one to anyone looking to take their yoga practice in their home or outside.
